Our Programs
The Ratnagiri District Public Library is not only an important institution in Ratnagiri but also a significant cultural center in Maharashtra. For the past 197 years, the library has been fulfilling the reading needs and intellectual aspirations of its readers. While steadfastly pursuing its mission and social responsibility, the library has also been dedicated to preserving and promoting Ratnagiri’s rich cultural heritage. To achieve this objective, the library organizes at least 14 to 15 cultural programs every year. These include lectures and interviews featuring renowned authors, distinguished personalities, and individuals who have made a significant impact in their respective fields. In addition, the library conducts informative programs highlighting important developments in society and the economy, expert guidance sessions by professionals from the medical and educational sectors, musical gatherings, children's camps, and book exhibitions. These programs consistently receive an enthusiastic response from enlightened and socially conscious citizens. The library also conducts various initiatives for young readers and meritorious students, which are met with equally encouraging participation and appreciation from children and their families.
